Don’t you just love it when you wear something that makes you feel stunning and unique? That great feeling is amplified when you wear an accessory that is a one-of-a-kind original. I’m Jennifer Lee and WaxZenSilk Scarf Creations is my new adventure in expressing my creativity. I’ve always been one who doodles and colors on everything and I love the latest craze for coloring books for relaxation! I recently retired from teaching special needs adolescents and always found creating various forms of art really helped my students deal with stress. Plus, it’s a huge part of who I am and what makes me happy.
I have dabbled in many different types of creative expression and visual arts. I took a class on the art of batik and was hooked! Batik is an ancient Indonesian art form of laying melted wax onto fabric and adding colored dyes inside the wax barriers. Wax is applied over a color to preserve it. When the design is finished, it is completely covered in wax to lock in the patterns and colors. Finally, it is dry cleaned to remove all wax.
I created batik designs as a hobby, often giving them as gifts to friends and family. So many people said I should sell my scarves, so now I am. My hand-painted batik silk scarves are all inspired works of art that feel luxurious and lightweight with high quality original designs. Each one starts out as a plain white silk scarf. I hand paint each one with melted wax and fabric dyes. I have several pattern designs and can vary the color schemes to meet your needs. No two are exactly alike and different color schemes really change the overall appearance of each scarf. Please realize that because every scarf is handmade, there will be variations which makes them unique originals and one of a kind treasures. Every scarf seems to have a unique quality of its own. Often the melted, flowing wax is difficult to control and it doesn’t do what I think it should do, but it becomes what it is supposed to be. The end result has such a natural beauty that it will be a one-of-a-kind show piece. Each scarf has a luminous natural beauty that can spice up any outfit.
Another important understanding is that a scarf takes 2-3 days to create, 4-5 days at the dry cleaners to remove all of the wax, then 3-5 days for shipping. Keep that in mind when ordering. Hand wash in cold water- iron if needed with a cool or silk setting
Thank you for you purchase!
